Help PSAC Local 610 Change and Grow – Become a Part of the Bylaws Committee!

Perhaps when you think about bylaws and policies, you think of a stack of papers containing dry, dull writing and obscure, unnecessary procedures. Not so!

Each year, the Local forms a Bylaws Committee made up of individuals from our diverse membership in order to examine its Bylaws and Policies documents and recommend changes that ensures that our Local’s operations reflect the changing needs and demands of our growing membership.

Our Bylaws and Policies are meant to be a living document crafted by our membership’s ideas about how the Local can best operate, from officer portfolios to communications to our various benefits and support programs. While consultation is done broadly across the membership, the minds and feedback from our Bylaws Committee helps to ensure that all recommendations are considered and that the resulting proposed document accurately represents what our members hope to see in our Local.

If you’d like to become involved in the Bylaws Committee this year, please email the Administration Chair, Diana Samu-Visser, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by Monday, February 29th. Meetings will take place in the first two weeks of March, and volunteers can expect the time commitment for this committee to be around 8-10 hours. If you cannot volunteer for this committee but still wish to offer feedback on the Local’s Bylaws and Policies, keep your eyes open for a member-wide survey that will be sent out later this week. Feedback from this survey will act as the foundation for developing the Bylaw Committee’s recommendations.

A significant portion of our members are also members of the University of Western Ontario Society of Graduate Students.
