Become a member in good standing simply by signing your blue union card every academic year. You must sign your union card in order to be eligible for union benefits, vote, etc. The blue union cards are available in the office.

Apply to the PSAC Local 610 Scholarship Program by April 15!

PSAC Local 610 has been awarding multiple scholarships each year to members who demonstrate excellence in the areas of academic achievement, community involvement, and outstanding contributions to research. The program is currently under review and may change next year, but the scholarships the Local has offered in the past are still available this year. In addition, we are working on one new scholarship for Postdoctoral Associates, which we will be launching shortly.

 

PSAC 610 Academic Achievement Scholarship
These are awarded once a year to members in good standing of PSAC 610. There are 16 scholarships available: 4 for each academic division. The scholarship, worth $500, is awarded to 8 Masters and 8 Doctoral students on the basis of academic achievement and research excellence.

PSAC 610 Outstanding Research Contributions Scholarship
These are awarded once a year to members in good standing of PSAC 610. There are 4 scholarships available, worth $400, for 2 Masters and 2 Doctoral students who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to research in their respective fields, whose achievement may have taken the form of, but are not limited to, conference presentations, published articles, workshops, and exhibitions.

PSAC 610 Community Involvement Scholarship
These are awarded once a year to members in good standing of PSAC 610. There are 4 scholarships available, worth $400, for 2 Masters and 2 Doctoral students who illustrate a high level of involvement with organizations that contribute productively to the community (internal or external to Western). Volunteer experience with not-for-profit groups will be weighted more heavily in consideration for this scholarship.
