Here is the information about the Union's benefit for members which you have access to apply for:
Extended Health Plan (EHP)
This year, will be awarding a total of 25 scholarships, to members who demonstrate excellence in the areas of academic achievement, research contributions, and community involvement. The deadline to apply is April 15th. For more information and to download the application form, click here.
The Local can offer up to $500 per term to members who experience financial hardship as a result of medical expenses beyond what is covered by SOGS and the EHP, or personal emergencies, including but not limited to bereavement travel, separation from a spouse or domestic partner, or unexpected catastrophes such as fire or flood. Financial Assistance is need based, and applications are adjudicated monthly. The application form and detailed eligibility information are available here.
Food Support and Resources
Through the Food Support program, the Local can offer $75 per term (plus $25 for any dependents) to help pay for the cost of groceries. Food Support applications are adjudicated based on financial need, and support is given in the form of a President’s Choice gift card. UHIP Assistance Program
International TAs, there will be an email going out early March about the UHIP Assistance Program, which provides funds to any members paying UHIP fees in order to help with these costs. If you want to take advantage of the program, you will need to fill out a very brief application form and submit it by March 31st.
