PSAC National Triennial Convention

Members of PSAC locals from across Canada converged in Quebec City from April 26th to May 1st for our union's national convention. Three members of the Local's Executive Committee served as delegates representing PSAC Local 610 at convention, which meets every three years and constitutes the highest governing body of the union.

Delegates at convention passed the union's budget; dedicated $5 million to a federal election campaign; allocated funds towards an Indigenous women's worker leadership education program and a national childcare program campaign; supported increasing the age of the young worker demographic from 30 to 35 years; and raised over $57,000 in donations to support striking workers in Hay River, which was matched by PSAC National. Delegates worked diligently and effectively throughout the week to pass an unprecedented total of 29 resolutions.

Delegates left convention feeling inspired and motivated by the work that they accomplished and significantly benefited from the opportunities to network with our brothers and sisters across Canada and to learn how our union operates on a national scale.

To learn more about convention, you can read national President Robyn Benson's "Headwinds" blog here and find out more about what was accomplished and what we now have to do as workers and unionists as we move forward and towards a federal election in October.

A significant portion of our members are also members of the University of Western Ontario Society of Graduate Students.
