Campaigning regulations for Union elections

From the office of the Chief Returning Officer of PSAC Local 610

Dear Members,

1. PSAC constitution and our bylaws allow any Executive Committee (EC) member or any other committee members to run for any position and campaign for it. However, such a member who has the privilege of being associated with Local 610 cannot use her/his title or the means available to her/him that belongs to Local 610 (like social media, mail list, etc.) for campaigning purposes. No EC member, Committee, or Committee member shall use her/his title to endorse a candidate. For example, at a personal page one cannot write "I as president of Local endorse ...", or "The bargaining committee endorses..", or " I as a finance committee member endorse ... ." In short legal status associated with Local 610 cannot be used for campaigning purposes. However, this does not prohibit any lawful campaign activities at a personal level.

2. No social media pages shall be created for the purpose of campaigning that uses logos or brands that belongs to Local 610 or PSAC.

The campaigning period of one week began at 4pm May 15, 2018 and ends at 4pm May 22, 2018.
